Al Munther project follows the success of the launch of the first satellite ‘Light 1’
The first indigenous Bahraini satellite project is 35 percent completed and will be called ‘Al Munther’.
In Arabic, ‘Al Munther’ translates to ‘the harbinger of good news’.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander and the Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, made the announcement and also unveiled the official logo of the Bahraini space mission. Al Munther is currently being designed and constructed by a fully Bahraini team.
Commending the efforts of the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) team, Shaikh Nasser said the project is a new milestone in the Kingdom of Bahrain space sector, and that it will be a big step towards the goal of utilising space technology to serve sustainable development efforts in the kingdom.
Al Munther project follows the success of the launch of the first satellite ‘Light 1’. It will boost scientific research in the areas of space, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity in Bahrain. The data provided will be analysed using several Bahraini innovations that will be a part of the satellite’s load.
The mission of the satellite will also include capturing images of the kingdom and its regional water.
